FAQ - Do you compete?

There is competition available at club, local, national and international levels but fighting and competing is not part of the syllabus. You do not have to fight to gain belts either.

However if you are interested in the competing side, there are still good opportunities. As well as sparring and ground fighting pictured here, there are also Empty hand and Weapon Kata sections available. More unique to Ju Jitsu are the Random Attack and Pairs Demo categories of competition. We run a club competition ladder allowing people to challenge other club members in contests of sparring, ground fighting and Random Attack. Participation is entirely optional. If you would rather concentrate on other aspects of Ju Jitsu we completely understand.

All competition activities are closely monitored always with one referee and normally two additional judges ensuring the utmost safety at all times.
